If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (Not to be confused with the abysmal knock-off Snake’s Revenge), go out and play it.
Everything that made the later Metal Gear Solid games great is contained within a an absolutely perfect 8-bit package. Ridiculously ahead of its time for 1990.
